What kind of virtual chat game can i buy or download for free?

I want to be able to create a person and be able to like walk around and do things. Like virtual dating since my boyfriend and i are doing long distance. I kind of want one thats like sims. Where we can just do things online. I already tried secondlife and it didnt work that great. so yeah. just curious. Thanks for the help!!
